Jake Ziemlak's Posterous

Feeding the world bullshit since 1990

Back After Break

It's been a bit since I've had anything worth while to post on my Posterous. But I had a kick ass meeting with Champlain Professor Elaine Young yesterday and it really got my social media mind ticking. We had a good talk about some interesting new tools. One of my favorite new web analytic and SEO tools is WooRank. WooRank allows you to input any website, and receive a report (PDF versions available) that can tell you all sorts of incredible tidbits of information about said websites SEO. It works as a virtual checklist for your website to make sure that you have everything enabled to improve the chances of being seen and ranked by Googles search engine bots. Definitely a tool worth checking out.

Firetruck.

I hate how our fire system works. If we set off an alarm, the main system doesn't trigger. However if the boys upstairs overcook something, and set off a smoke alarm. The ENTIRE fire department has to come. And we get kicked out of the building because the main console is on our floor. So tonight it happened for the third time this year. It wasn't a huge deal tonight, but they had to send three fire trucks, an emergency medical vehicle, and a fire SUV to our house, just to shut off the alarm. I wonder if our landlord has to pay for all these false alarms. Seems like an ineffective system if you ask me. Last time it was nearly 12 at night and we were about to fall asleep, that was terribly unfortunate, and really pissed off the whole house. Man these guys need to learn to cook. At least they didn't have roosters up there again. Maybe they should just stick to making sandwiches.

Blog Shout Out of the Week

I just sat down at work and began to bring up my numerous web tabs to get started on optimizing the Donor Area for the United Nation's Project and was fumbling through a few tweets when I found out about Sketchy Santas. Simply a tumblr blog dedicated to posting funny to mildly creepy pictures of children getting their picture taken with Santa. Really brings me into the christmas spirit, and makes me a little nostalgic for A Christmas Story, one of my families, and many families, holiday traditions. Anyways, if you like to laugh, and you like santa, and creepers. Check out http://sketchysantas.com/

HTC Hero Commercial

Finally saw the commercial for my Android Phone, I've got to say it's one of my top Cell Phone Commercials.

Google Image Swirl

Another interesting concept from google as they attempt to improve the image search function. It separates your search into twelve sections, once you choose one, the interface swirls around, giving you a variety of image options to choose from. So many choices. The Google Image Swirl is live in google labs, now.
